Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Lakes Region Undercoating – Mobile Vehicle Undercoating Services

1. What is undercoating and why is it important?

Undercoating is a protective layer applied to the underside of a vehicle to guard against rust, corrosion, salt damage, and moisture. It’s especially important for vehicles in areas with harsh winters, road salt, or high humidity, helping to extend the life of your car or truck.

2. What types of vehicles do you service?

We undercoat a wide range of vehicles, including:

Cars

Trucks

SUVs

Vans

Commercial vehicles

RVs and trailers (by request)

3. What kind of undercoating do you use?

We use high-quality, rust-inhibiting products, such as oil-based or rubberized undercoatings. We’ll recommend the best option based on your vehicle, environment, and preferences. All products are safe, effective, and environmentally compliant.

4. Is your undercoating service really mobile?

Yes! We come to you. All we need is a flat, safe work area and access to the vehicle.

5. How long does the undercoating process take?

Most undercoating jobs take between 2 to 4 hours depending on the size and condition of the vehicle. We’ll give you a more accurate time estimate when we schedule your appointment.

6. Do you clean the underside before applying the coating?

Yes. We do a thorough inspection and prep, which includes removing loose debris and surface grime. For heavily soiled or rusted vehicles, we may recommend a more intensive cleaning or rust conversion treatment prior to application (additional fees may apply).

7. How often should I get my vehicle undercoated?

We recommend reapplying every 12 to 18 months for maximum protection, depending on your driving habits and if the vehicle is used during the winter.

8. Can undercoating be applied to older or rusty vehicles?

Absolutely. While undercoating is best applied to clean, rust-free surfaces, we can still treat older or rusty vehicles with special rust converters or inhibitors to slow further corrosion. We’ll assess your vehicle before starting work.

9. Will undercoating affect my vehicle’s warranty?

Undercoating typically does not affect warranties, but we recommend checking with your dealership or warranty provider to be sure. Our process is non-invasive and doesn’t involve drilling or altering the vehicle’s structure.

10. Are there deals for multiple vehicles?

Yes, when you are booking state that you have more than one vehicle that you are looking to get undercoated at the same location and we will get back to you on a discount.
